Retreat by the sea 22-23 June 2019

Come and enjoy a full weekend of ‘me-time’, rejuvenation, self-love and beautiful experiences in celebration of the Summer Solstice, at The Old Vicarage in Mappleton in the East Yorkshire countryside.

Enjoy meditation and mindfulness sessions, sunrises and sunsets, stargazing, open fires, dancing, nourishing food, walks in nature, mindfulness practices on the beach, and wild swimming in the sea. All celebrating the joy of Summer.

There are two options to choose from:

Day only

It’s not always easy with work and family commitments to take a whole weekend out for you, so join us on either the Saturday or Sunday and have a day just for you.

Over night stay

Stay with us from Saturday through to Sunday and enjoy beautiful, luxury accommodation and the chance to immerse your mind, body and spirit for the whole weekend.

One day: Your Summer Solstice Retreat by the Sea ‘taster day’ is £45.00. This is an Early Bird rate, which goes up after the 10 June to £90.00.

Weekend experience: For the whole weekend, our special introductory rate is £225. This is on a shared room basis, or £295 on a single room basis.

The venue 

Nestled by the sea in beautiful small village in East Yorkshire countryside, with far reaching views, The Old Vicarage in Mappleton sits impressively in the natural landscape with ‘blue flag’ beaches and open fields beyond.

The detached former vicarage is believed to date back to 1822 and features a walled garden with ancient fruit trees. The house itself has been tastefully restored to retain its rustic charm and period features.

The setting makes for a beautiful and calming backdrop where you can get away from it all, relax, unwind, reflect and recharge and forget about the day-to-day.

Meet your host, Joanne Mullen

Joanne is a wellbeing mentor and meditation teacher and has qualifications in pilates and EFT. Take a look at her full bio here.

Joanne says: “If you want to press ‘pause’ on your life, then this is for you. Even if it’s just for a day - miracles happen in every moment!

“I’m collaborating with an awesome team of individuals and guest teachers and our desire is to support, nurture and nourish the people who support others in a meaningful and holistic way to achieve balance in their lives and spark their joy!”

Helen Gray, yoga teacher

Founder of ‘Yes to Yoga’, Helen is a yoga teacher who empowers students of all levels to find peace, balance and transformation from the comfort of their mat. 

Through a combination of yoga, meditation and sound healing Helen takes you on a mythical journey to reconnect with yourself, your soul and your sacred feminine.

Bev Thorogood, Midlife Transition Coach

Bev is on a mission to help women over 40 to take control of their health and wellness through sustainable, achievable and enjoyable lifestyle changes.

“I help women to find balance in mind, body and spirit using my proprietary NEST Framework to teach client show to incorporate healthier habits gradually and consistently and to overcome some of the barriers stopping them reaching their full potential,” says Bev.

She is a freelance Menopause in the Workplace Trainer, helping businesses and organisations to support their female workforce through workshops and seminars. In addition, she is a Precision Nutrition Certified Nutrition Coach (PN1), a certified health coach, a qualified personal trainer and behaviour change coach and also a group exercise instructor. She also has a BA in Business and Enterprise.

Anita Norman, Nutritionist

Anita's passion is coaching people how to cook practical, delicious meals from scratch within budget that, allied with an exercise plan, increase your vitality, health and performance to the next level.

She has worked extensively with men, women and families, helping many regain confidence, focus, health and a weight and shape that not only looks good but feels great. 

She is committed to educating away from the traditional pitfalls of dieting advice towards a healthy, balanced and innovative approach to eating.


Helen Burdin, dance teacher

Helen has been teaching since the age of 18. She says: “Fitness and dance is here to be enjoyed, hopefully to fill you with a sense of wellbeing and give you a healthy and active lifestyle.

She loves being able to make people feel good through dance and says it “fills her with joy, positivity, energy and happiness”.

“Exercise is infectious,” she says. “Find the right teacher who works with you, will only leave you wanting more.”

She’s qualified in:

Jude Gohl, yoga teacher

Jude Gohl is a fully qualified yoga teacher - you can find out more about her here: 

Discovering yoga was a life-changing experience for Jude. Although she never set out to teach, she felt a compulsion to share the absolute joy of yoga and it’s been the source of much personal happiness and pleasure ever since.

Her yoga style is hatha, but she likes to shake it up a bit and bring her own passions into her classes. She uses props such as blocks and straps to ensure everyone can find a pose that fits their body.

Jude believes yoga is as much about off the mat as it is on it, connecting body, breath and mind. Her aim is that you leave class feeling strong and revitalised yet relaxed and joyful.
